Nikon intends to remove the two popular softwares Nikon View & Nikon Picture Project from the market by the end of February 2008. Both these were very popular digital imagine softwares primarily used for copying, moving images between devices, sorting and archiving.

.

Nikon technical support team is allowing a full version download from their website and suggests that people who have a high dependency on these back up their data.

.

You could download the softwares from the Nikon Technical Site here.

  1. I am an infrequent photographer and use PictureProject.
I tried to e mail a picture to someone and got this message:

The host ‘imap’ could not be found. Please verify that you have entered the server name correctly.
Subject ”, Account: ‘imap’, Server: ‘imap’, Protocol: SMTP, Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 11001, Error Number: 0×800CCC0D

I am not a nerd. I have absolutely no idea what this means.
Also, is there a way simply to copy and paste a picture into an e mail I’m writing. I’ve tried and it doesn’t work.

  2. Regarding the above, if anyone can help me, my e mail
    address is meathtom@aol.com

  3. The link above, to the Technical site, only links to the latest update. A professional friend still uses Picture Project and I like the way it looks. Any idea on how to get the original so I can then apply this update?

    Thanks for any help.

  4. TRy a work around:
    menu-
    file-
    -export
this file or selection and put it into any map you’ve espacially made for this purpose. Than
open the map from there and use any other program but Picture Project!

    E.g
    Faststone Image Vieuwer (freeware)

(it can also be done by opening picture project and select multiple pictures by hand and use the copy-menu with the right mouse button! etc.).

    succes!
    Merlin
